It is with great sadness that the family of Frances V. Hays, 92, of Andalusia announces her passing on Thursday, December 31, 2020.  A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Joseph Baker will be Tuesday January 5th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Andalusia at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of visitation the family would like you to join them for a recitation of the Rosary in her honor at 9:30 a.m.  Social distancing and face mask guidelines will be followed.  Fran would want all of you to remain safe during this time so if you are more comfortable participating from home, a live streaming will be available for the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial at https://vimeo.com/496424148 and Fran's obituary at wheelanpressly.com.  The Committal will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island following the service.

Frances was born on December 21, 1928 in Alma Center, Wisconsin to Anna (Clements) and John Capaul.  She married Francis (Frank) H. Hays on June 5th 1954 in LaCrosse, WI.

In her early years, Fran was a hairdresser.  Following her move to Illinois she worked at Jaydon in Milan for many years. Fran was involved in the community with helping to set up the Andalusia Township Library (served on the board), active in the Home Extension club and the Altar Society at St Pat's Church.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, playing cards, and rooting for her Cubbies. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she enjoyed seeing them as much as possible. One of her biggest joys in life was her church and her church family. Those friends and her wonderful neighbors in Andalusia helped her enjoy life to the fullest.  She will forever hold them and Our Loving God in her heart.  Her family is eternally grateful for each and every one.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Anna (Clements) and John Capaul, her husband Francis Hays, and her sister Alice and two bothers Robert and Bernard. Surviving Frances are her children Kathy (Jim) Browning, Tom (Debbie) Hays, Marcia (Brad) Krstic, and Jim (Gina) Hays along with 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandsons, and her surviving sisters, Jeanette, Joann (John), and Betty (Gary).

We discovered in some of her papers a note she had written - "Remember me with smiles & laughter, and no tears".

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
