Francis Edward Vroman, 88, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Taylor Ridge. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the ARC of the Quad Cities (4016 9th Street, Rock Island, IL, 61201) or St. Patrick Catholic Church (PO Box 249, Andalusia, IL, 61232).
Francis was born January 15, 1937, in Edgington, Illinois, to Edward P. and Edna M. (Dunlap) Vroman. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1955. Francis married Sue Carol Wood on December 1, 1956, in Milan. Francis was a lifetime farmer. In his early years, he owned and operated Vroman Mobile Milling. Francis was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was also a charter member and trustee of the Andalusia Fire Protection District for 52 years and a founder of the Illinois City Conservation Club. Francis enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching the Chicago Cubs, and watching college basketball. He also enjoyed following his grandchildren's sporting events. Above all, Francis loved spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish Francis' memory include his wife of 68 years, Sue; children, Michael (Bonnie) Vroman, John (Rosa) Vroman, Christine Vroman, and JoAnn (Jeff) DePauw; grandchildren, Guy (Janet) Foutch, Delores Foutch, Rodney Foutch, Alicia (Daniel) Albus, Patrice Vroman, John (Sarah) Vroman, and Heather Bogart; great-grandchildren, Theresa Albus, Lawrence Albus, Michael Albus, Gabriel Albus, Jackson Vroman, and Puratee Bogart; 19 step great-grandchildren; 16 step great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul (Nancy) Vroman.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jan Vroman; granddaughter, Laura Vroman; and brother, Edward J. Vroman.
Francis' family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Desirae Ballegeer and Kevin and Hannah Steele, and the nurses and staff at UnityPoint and UnityPoint Hospice.
