Francisco Cruz Sr., 62, of Rock Island, passed away on September 10th, 2017 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Services for Mr. Cruz will be 10 am, Friday at Heritage Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 pm, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Vida Nueva Church, Moline.  Francisco was born on October 1, 1954 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Manuel Cruz and Felicia Velazquez.  He served eleven years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft electrician.  He also served for the Department of Defense at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station and the Rock Island Arsenal. He loved God and was active in his church, serving through community outreach and playing guitar on the worship team.  He loved his family, fishing, and baseball.  He showed respect to everyone who crossed his path.  He left a loving legacy that will live on in his children and grandchildren.  He was loved by many on earth and he will be greatly missed.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Cruz and Felicia Velazquez; two brothers Juan and William; two sisters Isabel and Estervia; and a son, Manuel.  Francisco is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bonnie; daughter, Andrea Gallegos, and her husband, Gilbert; son, Francisco Cruz Jr., and his wife, Tara; grandchildren, Emma, Ysabella, Christian, Benicio, Ashton, Noah, Luca, Isaiah and Luis; brother, Marcelino Cruz, and his wife Noemi; and two sisters, Georgia Perez and Margarita Rivera.
