Frank L. Bridge, 95, of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, passed away peacefully Friday, February 26, 2021, at Avonlea Cottage in Milan, Illinois. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, IL. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 8, at Zion Lutheran Church in Taylor Ridge with burial following in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge; Rockridge FFA; or Andalusia Ambulance Service.
Frank was born in Glenburn, North Dakota, on December 1, 1925, the son of Frank and Constance Bridge. He attended school at Rock Island High School. Frank married Berneyce Doyle in April of 1944. On January 31, 1945, he was inducted in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class and was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946. Frank came home and started farming and continued his agriculture journey for the rest of his life. He was a member of the Rock Island County Fair Board for 35 years serving as president for 10 years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, American Legion, and Zion Lutheran Church of Taylor Ridge.
Frank was best known for his one liners, love for Diet Mountain Dew, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, and his adventurous truck rides. He was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, and friend and will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his son Richard (MaryLou), daughter, Connie (Mark) Schultz, and daughter-in-law, Artis Bridge all of Taylor Ridge; grandchildren (and spouses) Angela (Jason) Spackman, Amber (Bob) Smith, Carrie (Matt) Larson, Carol (Tom) Parchert, Kelly (Greg) Gillespie, Tom Bridge, Jaclyn Hauer, and Josh Hauer; great grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, and Laikyn Parchert, Evan and Josephine Gillespie, Daniel Spackman, and Stella and Maya Smith; and one sister, JoAnn Whitall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Constance; wife, Berneyce; son, Lloyd; daughter, Gerrie; sister, Ellen; and 2 brothers, Gordan and Stanley.
