Frank R. DePaepe, 78, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at his home. Services for Frank will be 10 am, Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Milan, where a rosary will be recited at 4 pm. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the Milan Christian Food Pantry. Following the services at the National Cemetery the family has invited everyone to a luncheon at the Rock Island Moose Lodge.
Frank was born on October 24, 1937 in Davenport, a son of Frank E. DePaepe and Cesariene P. Noens DePaepe. Frank graduated from Alleman High School, Rock Island, Class of 1955. He married Joan B. Rose on July 1, 1961 in Rock Island. Mr. DePaepe worked as a supervisor at John Deere Plow and Planter Works, Moline. He retired from John Deere in 1992 after 26 years of service. He had previously worked for the Centennial Bridge Commission. Frank was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. He was an active volunteer at the Milan Christian Food Pantry. Frank was a Cub Scout Den Father and was a coach for the Milan Little League Baseball. He enjoyed hunting ,fishing and gardening. Frank also enjoyed watching Indy Car Racing and was an avid Norte Dame fan and Chicago Cubs fan. Mr. DePaepe was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; sons, William F. DePaepe, Huber Heights, Ohio and Todd J. DePaepe (fiancee, Diane Hart), Rock Island; a sister Joan Grothusen, East Moline; brother in law, James Santry, Mount Juliet, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his beagle dog, "Buddy".
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James M. DePaepe; and a sister, Janet Santry; and brother in law, Keith Grothusen.. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com
