Franklin R. Cheng, 88, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Kahl Home in Davenport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Frank was born on October 20, 1933 in Shanghai, China, a son of Tze and Sun (Wong) Cheng. He married Margaretta Lou in 1962 in New York City, New York. Frank earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Trine University in Angola, Indiana and later earned his Master's degree from Virginia Tech. Frank worked as a mechanical engineer at the Rock Island Arsenal for 35 years. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island. Frank enjoyed playing tennis, reading, traveling, and gardening. Above all, Frank enjoyed his life and loved spending time with his wife and family.

Those left to cherish Frank's memory include his wife of 58 years, Margaretta; and son, Gabriel.

Frank was preceded in death by his son, Percy.
