Freddie P. Taylor, 85 of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at home surrounded by his children, grandson and friends.

Visitation will be from 1-2:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM.  Private inurnment with military honors will be at a later date at Chippiannock Cemetery Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Freddie was born January 20, 1938 in Huntingdon, TN.  He was raised by his mother Hazel (Taylor) Harrison, grandfather, Emanuel Taylor and grandmother, Bertie (Alexander) Taylor.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam War.  He married Kathy Jo McNamara and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2020.  He previously married Beverly Boyd.

Freddie worked at John Deere, Service Rubber and different nightclubs.  He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, watching sports and western movies.

Left to cherish his memory includes his daughters, Yolanda Gabriel, Rock Island, IL and Lita Taylor, Kennesaw, GA; son, Rod Taylor, Atlanta, GA; grandson, Tremaine Gabriel, Rock Island, IL; 3 stepchildren, Lisa Lema, Nicole (Daylen) Daniels, Jason (Emily) Benge; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; including special friends, Darrell Lowe and Lori Hamilton both of Rock Island, IL who were like a brother and sister.

Freddie was preceded in death by his wife, mother, grandparents; grandson, Jerrell Gabriel, Sr.; brother, Robert Taylor; sister, Peggy Taylor; niece, India Taylor; aunt, Ida Mae Taylor; great-nephews, Eric Cunningham and Marcus Kelly.
