It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Freida "Freddi" M. Unterscheidt, a beloved member of our community, who passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 73. Freida was born on March 3, 1952, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Robert D. and Catherine M. (Carroll) Wade. Freida was a dedicated clerk at Hy-Vee, where she found joy in her work and cherished the relationships she developed with customers and colleagues alike. Her commitment to her job was evident in the warmth she brought to her role, where she was known for her kindness and generosity of spirit. Outside of her work, Freida was an ardent crafter, finding fulfillment in her passion for cross-stitch. An avid reader, she spent countless hours immersed in the pages of her favorite books. Freida treasured her family; the time spent together brought her immense joy. Her two beloved dogs, Hummel and Sandy, were her faithful companions, providing her with comfort and love throughout the years. Freida is survived by her brother, Carl (Debbie) Wade; her special friend, Bill Johannsen; and her cherished nieces Desi and Miley, along with various other nieces and nephews. She is also dearly remembered by her cousin and best friend, Pattie Draper, and the many customers and community members who had the pleasure of getting to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, George Wade, Helen Campos, Cora Dunham, and Billy Wade, as well as her aunt, Gerri Horton. In honor of Freida's life and the love she shared, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Freida M. Unterscheidt will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and the impact she had on those around her. She will be missed but never forgotten.
