Rock Island — Garry B Peterson, 80, of Rock Island formally Woodhull, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2015, Unity Point Hospice.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 from 5-7p.m. at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Humane Society, Galesburg, Ill. or River Bend Foodbank, Davenport, Iowa. A private service will be held for the family.

Garry was born on Dec. 5, 1934, in rural New Windsor Ill., the son of Clarence A. and Pearl Falline Peterson. He married E. Darlene Zurcher on Oct. 12, 1956, in Swedona, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; his son, Larry (April) Peterson; grandchildren, Britta (Greg) Reitman, Lars Peterson, Bjorn (Whitney) Peterson, Inga (Gary) Olson, Jason (Amber) Schroeder, Christopher (Amanda) Schroeder, Ariana Peterson, Tyler Peterson; great-granddaughter, Jaimie Schroeder; sisters, Rose Ann (Clarus) Nelson and Phoebe Elizabeth Van Blaracom; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
