Gary W. Jones, 80, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, East Moline.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family. Memorials may be made in Gary's name to the Alzheimer's Association.

Gary was born April 3, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to Richard and Eleanor (Shearer) Jones. Gary was a member of the National Guard for 8 years. He worked for CASE-IH as a materials handler for 34 years, retiring in 1996. Gary married Carol Lindley and they had two daughters. He later married Karen Taylor on April 3, 1987, in Sheridan, WY. Gary loved going out to eat with friends and family. He enjoyed going fishing, going on movie dates and to the Casino with Karen, and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen; children, Jennifer (Paul) Wiener, Julie (Jeff) Larson; stepchildren, Kristi (Michael) Magana, Steven (Tina Tighe) Garrison; grandchildren, Nikki, Dalton, Alayna, Evan, Jordan; and great grandchildren, Mylee, Konor, Michaela, and Chloe.

He was preceded by his parents; siblings, Richard Jones Jr, and Judy Wise; and grandson, Jared Larson.
