IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Dean
Misner
June 14, 1947 – December 5, 2015
Gary "Dean" Misner, 68, of Rock Island, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by the people he loved most, after an extended illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Per the family's request, please wear Chicago Bear attire to visitation if you can. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Quad City Kidney Center or Riverside Treatment Center.
Gary Dean Misner was born in Perry, Mo. June 14, 1947, a son of Phillip and Dalthea Moore Misner. He was the 10th addition to the family of 11. He married Debbie Roudebush in Rock Island in 1977.
In Deans early years he worked at Hawkeye Steel Fabricators. After a life changing chain of events he was instrumental in forming a coffee shop at Riverside Retreat. He was a 35 year, proud member of AA.
Deans mission in life was to add humor to every situation. He was an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to have known him. He faced every hurdle with determination, passion and belief that, "this to, shall pass."
He was the ultimate Bears fan. He cheered them on when they did well, and yelled at the TV and players if they weren't.
Survivors include his wife, best friend, caregiver and confidant, Debbie Misner, Rock Island; children, Pamela E. (Shane) Schroeder, Davenport, Paula Bahena and Gary E. Misner, both of Rock Island; grandchildren, Jessica, Christian, Jesenia, Moises Jr., Deanna, Alberto Jr. and Jesus (Chuchi); five great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy Dalton Curry, Davenport, Patty Carstens and her husband, Gerry, who was Dean's honorary brother and lifelong best friend, Calamus, Iowa and Chuck Misner, St. Joe, Mo.; many nieces and nephews that were well loved and very active in Dean's life; and special niece and "other woman in Dean's life," Jayme Beattie.
Welcoming him to heaven are his parents; siblings, Dorothy, Margie, Richard, Phil, Tom, Jerry and Carol; and several nieces, nephews and many close friends. May they all rest in peace.
