Gary A. Ray, 75, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Bettendorf Health Care Center. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan - Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial is at the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.Gary Allen Ray was born February 24, 1939 in Truax, Iowa, a son of Charles E. Ray and Dorothy P. Geery. He married Joan Laing on July 31, 1982 at Longview Park in Rock Island.

Gary was an over - the - road truck driver for over 20 years. He worked for various trucking companies in the QC area before his retirement in 2006.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, antique collecting and NASCAR

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Joan; sons and daughters in law; Doug and Deb Sales, Rock Island, Brian and Debbi Franklin, Oregon, Wis. and Bevin Franklin, Mo.; grandchildren, Michelle, Thomas and Tyrelle Richardson, Rock Island; Taylor, Hunter and Spencer Franklin, Oregon, Wis. and Antonio Ankums, Atlanta, GA.; great-grandchildren, Adon Richardson and Zaelin Johnson, Rock Island; brother and sister in law, Stan and Wendy Ray, Davenport and sister and brother in law, Melba and Harley Moore, Carlisle, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Ray and sister, Bonnie Clark.
