George A. Nimrick, 89, of Taylor Ridge, died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.  Cremation rites were accorded.  A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be private at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Taylor Ridge.  Memorials may be made in care of the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

George was born in East Moline on Nov. 10, 1926, a son of Charles J. and Laura Ericson Nimrick.  George was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during WWII.  He married Patricia Curry on May 21, 1955 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.

George was a machine operator for J.I. Case in Rock Island from 1956 - 1986.

He was a member at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia.  He enjoyed camping, gardening and square dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nimrick, Taylor Ridge; children (and spouses), Brian G. Nimrick, Taylor Ridge, Brent J. (Jody) Nimrick, Taylor Ridge, Jeff A. (Brenda) Nimrick, Minnesota, Georgia "Missi" L. Mapes, Taylor Ridge and Jerry Nimrick, Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, Tyler Nimrick, Branden (Miranda) Nimrick, Ryan Nimrick, Blade Mapes, Danielle Nimrick, Ashlee Asplund and Jacob Mapes; and great-granddaughter, Kynlee Nimrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters and a very special great-niece, Patty Banks.
