George R. Rasmussen , 80, of Andalusia, IL, passed away Sunday January 16, 2022 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island, IL.

No services are planned at this time. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, is assisting the family with arrangements.

George was born July 11, 1941 in Moline, Illinois, a son of Raymond and Sarah Turner Rasmussen. He married Nancy S. Reecher on June 11, 1961 in Sterling, IL.

George was a police officer for the East Moline Police Dept., and later a deputy with the Rock Island County Sheriff's Dept. He retired in 1997. He also farmed for many years.

In earlier years, he was a licensed pilot, enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and going to the Ozarks. He also built two of the homes, he and his family lived in. In recent years, George enjoyed socializing with friends, gardening, canning, taking rides in the mule, watching old Western's and dining out.

Most of all he loved his family, and playing with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy, of Andalusia; daughter, Wendy (Jr.) Doss, Reynolds, IL; adopted daughter/granddaughter, Katrina (Dustin) Downing, Reynolds; granddaughter, Dana Doss, Aledo, IL; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Kennedy, Triston Doss, Jemma Downing, Trachelle Doss, and Brinley Doss.

George was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kristine Welch.
