George H. Thomas, 75, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his home. A live-streamed memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, and may be accessed online by visiting https://www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Face masks and social distancing are required. Cards and memorials may be sent to the funeral home in care of the Thomas family.

George was born on November 15, 1945 in Georgetown, Kentucky, a son of Harvey and Bessie Lee (Johnson) Thomas. He married Marlene Delores Sales on September 7, 1968 in Moline. George retired as a machinist at John Deere Foundry after 25 years and at Walmart after 20 years. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Moline. George enjoyed bowling and belonged to many leagues throughout his life. He also enjoyed playing tennis.

Those left to cherish George's memory include his wife, Marlene; son, Timothy Franklin Thomas, Atlanta, Georgia; daughters, Ronnette Marie Thomas (fiancé, William Lawson), Moline, and Shanelle Lynn (husband, Dameon) Dunbar, Snellville, Georgia; grandchildren, Alaiveir Atwater, Armani Atwater, Aisya Guillory, Kourtney Osborne, and Kyla Osborne; siblings, Hattie "Fan" Gilkey, Wanzella Richman, Thelma (Michael) Floyd, Lorraine (Space) Johnson, Harvey (Jennie) Thomas, Jr., James (Sallie) Thomas, and Joyce Ann Thomas; and a host of friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Gloria Thomas.
