Georgia L. Thompson, 85, of Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. Born in Fallon, Nevada, to Neal S. Bliss and Leona McAllister, Georgia was a beloved mother, grandmother, and a cherished member of her community.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Salvador) Alcala; her sons, Thomas Thompson, Wayne Thompson, and Walter "Duke" Thompson; and her cherished grandchildren, Aiden Rasler, Lilly Alcala, and Salvador Alcala Jr. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Robert and Elizabeth.
Georgia was a remarkable woman whose deep faith and commitment to her community shone brightly. As a long-time member of Trinity Bible Missionary Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher and elder and was ordained as a reverend in 2008 after years of dedicated ministry.
Her love for nature was evident in her visits to the marina, where she would find peace while watching birds and reflecting on her faith. An avid reader and passionate puzzle enthusiast, Georgia also touched hearts with her poetry and creative mind. She penned the inspiring song "I Can See the Lights of Home" and shared her thoughts through a monthly periodical, "The Lights of Home." Her vibrant spirit and warmth enriched the lives of those around her, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared a special bond, nurturing their dreams and passions.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Island on Friday, May 29, 2026. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 AM at the same location. Memorial contributions may be made in Georgia’s honor to her family.
Georgia L. Thompson’s legacy of love, faith, and creativity will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
