Obituary

Geovantie Anthony Slaughter, 39, of Chicago, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Thursday April 10, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Funeral services are 11:00 Am Saturday April 19, 2025 at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to service time at church. Wheelan-Presslly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Geovantie was born on March 13, 1986 in Moline the son of George Slaughter and Dianne McQueen Slaughter. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School in 2005. Geovantie later attended Blackhawk College, Moline and later graduated from Columbia College, Chicago. He had also attended the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School and had been a licensed cosmetologist. After college and working as a cosmetologist, Geovantie had been employed by SkyWest Airlines as a flight attendant.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling and was always the life of the party.

Survivors include his mother, Dianne Slaughter (Fred McPherson); father, George (Monica) Slaughter; paternal grandmother, Wylmarie Nicholson Sykes; sister, Marcella McQueen; step brother, Justin Hicks; Nephew, De'Jur McQueen Lee; niece, JaNigh Parks; great niece, Meliaya Kae McQueen; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
