Gerald C. Bloomberg, 93, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Generations - Rock Island.  Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.  Inurnment will take place in Rock Island National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline or the Shriners Children's Hospital, Chicago.

Gerald was born on February 15, 1923 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Clarence A. and Jeanette E. Wongstrom Bloomberg.  He married Edythe N. Petersen on October 21, 1950. She died on November 26, 1998.  Gerald worked in the service department at Deere and Co. for many years, retiring in 1982.  He was also employed by Augustana College for a time.

Gerald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Doric Lodge AF&AM, Moline, Scottish Rite & Coordinate Bodies, Valley of Moline, Moline, Independent Order of Vikings, Moline, American Legion Post #246.  He was also a former member of the Kaaba Shrine, Davenport,

Gerald was a proud Coast Guard Veteran, serving in WW II.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lynne E. (Larry) Anderson, The Woodlands, TX and Terry L. Brown, Rock Island; grandchildren, Kelley (Maurice) Arnold, Todd Brown and Jenny Brown;  great grandchildren, Allyna, Landry and Logan Arnold and Aiden, Mac Kinsy and Karsen Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Janis Briggs; brother, Wayne in infancy and nephews, Steven and Thomas Briggs
