Gerald was born on October 28, 1942 in Iowa Falls, IA, the son of Albert and Tena (Murra) Luppen. He married Sharon Boger on June 19, 1964 in Ackley, IA. He worked as a machine operator for John Deere Inc., for 33 years. He retired in 1999.
Gerald enjoyed restoring, collecting, and showing classic cars - for which he won many awards. He was an avid collector of John Deere, Inc. memorabilia. He also loved collecting and restoring slot and other gaming machines. It seemed there was nothing Gerald couldn't fix. He would offer his services to any friend or family member in need.
Gerald loved to travel, camp, and spend time with his friends and family. But without question, his greatest joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His pride in them, and his whole family was boundless.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Sharon Luppen, Rock Island; sons, Tod (Diane) Luppen, Bettendorf and Scott (Sylvia) Luppen, Andalusia; grandchildren, Alex, Benjamin, Hannah, Nicole, Shawna, Scott Jr., Mary, and Stephanie; great grandchildren, Emma, Kylie, Myah, Khloie, Hailey, Brian, Anthony, Christian, Kaylynn, and Richard; great-great grandson, Matthew; siblings, Gary Luppen, Cassville, MO, Joyce Foster, Urbandale, IA, Kevin (Sheryl) Luppen, Alden, IA, and Judy (Al) Hammarmeister, Iowa Falls, IA; and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; son, Gerald Luppen Jr.; and grandson, Kyle.
Gerald's family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Mario Sy, M.D. and his office staff for the wonderful care they gave him through his battle with cancer.
