Gerald E. McManus, 65, of Reynolds, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City.  Funeral services for Gerald will be 10:00 a.m Tuesday at the Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave E., Milan.  Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the family for a fund to be established.

Gerald was born on June 20, 1951 in Rock Island, a son of Joseph and Dorothy Redecker McManus.  Gerald graduated from Alleman High School. He  married Darla Covemaker on January 15, 1977 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia.  Gerald was an antique dealer, he loved attending auctions and yard sales.  He was also a farmer who worked alongside his 5 brothers and cherished his family's close connection to each other and their farm.  Gerald greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed watching Western shows and football.  He was well known for being humble, kind and willing to listen.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darla; brothers, Tom (Nancy), Larry, Vince (Margaret), Pat and Steve; sisters in law, Cheryl (Rick) Cook, Mona and Becky; brother in law, Chuck Covemaker; nephews, Marty, Marlin, Don, Mike, Chris, Joe, Casey and Dustin; nieces, Tara, Jodi, Michelle, Tascha, Sheila, Mia and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father in law.
