Gerald R. Shryack, 92, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m on Friday at the Wheelan - Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave E., Milan. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9th at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend graveside services should meet at Wheelan - Pressly Funeral Home, Milan at 1:00 p.m on Monday . Memorials may be made in care of Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, c/o Ridgecrest Village, 4130 Northwest Blvd., Davenport, IA 52806.
Gerald was born on March 31, 1924 in Macomb, Illinois, a son of Lawson and Georgianna Fawcett Shryack. Gerald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married for over 25 years and had 4 children. Gerald worked at McLaughlin Body as an assembler and retired in 1989. He greatly enjoyed golfing, fishing and taking care of his lawn in his earlier years.
Left to cherish his memory are his children; Marsha Shryack, Milan; Jennifer Koberstein, Milan; Jerry (Nancy) Shryack, Bettendorf and Kevin Shryack, Rock Island; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Ferman Shryack, Monmouth, Ill., Rod Shryack, Nevada and a sister, Patty Ann Tieman, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.
