Gerald Herman Stewart, 84, of Milan, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his home.  Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic service being conducted at 6:30 p.m.  Cremation rites will follow the services.  Inurnment will be private at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the Eureka Lodge 69, A.F. & A.M., Milan.

Gerald was born in Monmouth, Ill. on August 26, 1931, a son of Herman and Mildred Melaner Stewart.  Gerald was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired after 20 years of service.

Gerald worked as a sheet metal installer and was part of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 91.  Gerald was a 44 year member of the Eureka Lodge 69, A.F. & A.M., Milan.  He enjoyed wood working in his earlier years and also loved flower gardening.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Reed, Hinsley, Ark.; granddaughter, Mary E. Hanson; great-grandchildren, Jonathon T. and Julia C. Hanson; and sisters, Margaret Sonkel and Mary Vance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Howard Stewart and sister, Jean Larson.
