Gertrud "Gerdy" Hauman, 86, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday May 24, 2014 at Unity Point- Trinity, Rock Island.Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Those wishing to attend are to meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family to establish a memorial fund for Gertrud's grandson, Fletcher Nebrick.

Gertrud was born November 14, 1927 in Pforzheim, Germany, a daughter of Franz and Elsa Baumhauer Schmitt. She married Thomas E. Hauman on July 24, 1952 in Heidelberg, Germany.

Gertrud was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being with her family and friends. She also loved playing Bingo.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas, of Rock Island; son, Steve Hauman, Rock Island; daughter, Diana "Dena" Hauman, Rock Island; grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Meggos, Kimberly Hauman and Fletcher Nebrick; great-grandchildren, Madeline "Maddie", Olivia and Avery Meggos; and one niece.

Gertrud was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Fritz Schmitt, and sister, Martha Feind.
