Gladys L. Goode, 94, of rural Reynolds, IL, passed away Tuesday December 2, 2014 at Premier Estates, Muscatine, IA.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6th, at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge, IL. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, IL. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association
Gladys was born November 5, 1920 in rural Andalusia, IL, a daughter of Charles and Minnie (Hartman) Mier. She married Arthur "Art" Goode on August 10, 1940 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2013.
Gladys was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm for many years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church. Gladys enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery, and was a wonderful cook. She and Art enjoyed taking their antique cars to area parades, and were members of the Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club, Mount Pleasant, IA.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Delores (Marvin) Palmer, New Boston, Duane (Sally) Goode, Reynolds, and Janet (Ed) Haynie, Reynolds; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Ethel Martin, Taylor Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson; Mike Goode; and siblings, Ruth Mier, Dorothy Mier, Julia Lenz, Rosetta Schmidt, Florence Ziegler, and Albert Mier.
