Glenn C. Friel, 94, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Generations at Rock Island.

Private family funeral service will be held.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island.

Glenn was born on April 8, 1922 in McLeansboro, IL, the son of Thomas and Mary (Mayberry) Friel.  He married Helen Clark on April 6, 1947 in Illinois.  Glenn was employed by Globe Machinery as a purchasing agent.  Glenn is an US Army Veteran whom faught in WWII and was part of the Merrill's Marauders Unit.  He was a former member of Memorial Heights Methodist Church, and was a current member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island.   Glenn was also a member of Tri City Purchasing.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and antique cars.

Glenn is survived by his two sons, Randy (Glenna) Friel and Rickey (Debbie) Friel; grandchildren, JT Friel, Chad (Abby) Friel, and Kara (David) Shultz; and great grandchildren, Charlie, Tate, Landon, Aiden, Gavin, and Mason.  He was preceded in death by his wife Helen; parents; and sister, Dorothy French.
