Obituary

Glenn Carl Rousey, 80, of Silvis, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2024.

He was born to Carl and Laverne Rousey, on November 12th, 1943, in Inglewood, California.

He retired from the Rock Island Fire Department after 27 years of employment. After retirement, he relocated to Loveland, Colorado where he taught Fire Science at Aims College and served on the Loveland City Council.

He has two daughters, Jodean from his marriage to Sherrie Rousey (Wilson), and Annalisa from his marriage to Sherry Rousey (Mell). He has one grandson, Montgomery (Jodean).

He enjoyed golfing, hiking, and traveling to National Parks. His favorite vacations were to Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park. He was an avid researcher and key contributor to the Rock Island Fire Department's 100-year history book. He was a member of MENSA for over thirty years.

Glenn is survived by his daughters, Jodean (Mark) and Annalisa (Tony), and grandson Montgomery. He is preceded in death by his wife Sherry of fifty-one years, and his parents. He leaves behind life-long friends created by the bond of the firefighter brotherhood.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 2nd, from 4-7pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the memorial to be placed in Colorado, his final resting location.
