Gleva T. Ommen, 89, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with a recitation of the rosary at 3:30 pm.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Gleva was born February 11, 1928 in Currie, MN the daughter of Harvey and Deniege (Remily) Pommier.  She married Richard Ommen on July 8, 1947 in Currie, MN.  In her younger years Gleva was a member of the Solosteppers.  She enjoyed crocheting, ironing, and playing cards.  Gleva was an active member at St. Pius X, and was part of the divorced, widowed, and separated group and Cursillo.  In 1993 she became a chapel volunteer at the East Moline Correction Center, along with participating in the JOY (Jesus, others, and you) program and the Catholic chapel ministry, which she was active in until three months ago.

Gleva is survived by her children, Randy (Nancy) Ommen, Bettendorf, Rox (Glenna) Ommen, Coal Valley, and Kathryn (Jim) Murphy, Peoria, AZ; grandchildren, Dustin, Bria, Brett, Sarah, Shannon, and Quinn; 17 great grandchildren; and siblings, Janice Hoyt, TX and Bernel Pommier, MN.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ommen; parents; and siblings, Leah Brown, Blanche Warren, Maxine Buyck, Prissilla Remily, Gerald Pommier, and Darlene Pommier.
