Glory J. Pitchford, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island. A time for visitation and remembrance will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7 th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.
Glory was born February 9, 1952 in Louisville, Mississippi, a daughter of Walter C. and Georgia (Scott) Parks. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1970. She married Eddie Frank Pitchford on October 18, 1980 in Rock Island. To their union, 5 children were born. Eddie later passed away June 6, 2014. Glory worked in production at Parker Hannifin for over 30 years and retired in 2014. She enjoyed singing, dancing, taking care of others and participating and enjoying all of her children and grandchildren's sports, activities and accomplishments. Glory had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and caring for them every day.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Natosha Pitchford of Moline, Tanisha (Ashley) Harris of Rock Island and Rachel Pitchford of Davenport; grandchildren, Arionna Pitchford, Londyn, Aelle and Shaley Harris; siblings, Walter Parks Jr., Ernestine (James) Gore, Bernice White, Deanna Holmes and Jeanne Ruth Harris, all of Rock Island, Euniceteen (Johnnie) Mans of Springfield, OH; Willie Fred (Kathleen) Parks of Davenport; Betty Jones of Teachey, North Carolina; Brother in law, Walter Pitchford of Kansas City, Kansas and sister in law, Carolyn Pitchford of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, and nephews and friends that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 children in infancy and a granddaughter, Georgia Lee Pitchford.
