Gordon Ney, 70, of Bettendorf, passed away on February 6, 2015 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a short illness.
A funeral service will be held at Congregation Beth Israel at the Tri-City Jewish Center in Rock Island on Sunday, February 8th, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Rock Island Hebrew Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island.
Gordon was born in Boston on December 7, 1944, to Paul and Genevra, he grew up in Cheshire, Connecticut, attending Cheshire Academy and Westminster in Connecticut. Gordon received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Denver.
For his entire career, over forty years, Gordon worked for Army Material Command at the Rock Island Arsenal.
In his spare time, Gordon was a tennis aficionado and enjoyed many cultural events in the area. He was an integral part of the local Jewish Federation where he held many positions over the years.
He was married to his beloved and devoted wife Anne (formerly of Highland Park, Illinois) for over 44 years. Survivors include his wife, Anne, of Bettendorf; two sons, Edward, of Chicago, and Aaron (Wendy) and grandson, Ravi, all of Denver; and his sister, Dulany Ney, of Meriden, CT.
