Gordon W. Sellmann, 87, of East Moline, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Park Vista Retirement Living - North Hill - East Moline, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Gordon was born December 19, 1936, in Davenport, IA, the son of William and Hildegard (Fiedler) Sellmann. He married Barbara "Barb" Bauer in 1955. He worked as a journeyman mechanic for Parr Instrument Company for over 40 years.

Gordon was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline. He was a big animal lover. Gordon enjoyed reading and traveling. His main interest lied with history. This included classic cars and motorcycles as well as local history, especially, looking at how the Quad Cities has progressed and changed through the years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his previous wife, Barb; children, Shari Swann, Debbie Dixon, Connie Sellmann-Harris, Tammy (Terry) Nissen; grandchildren, Jessie, Nikki, Sheena, Elizabeth, Brad, Adam, Matt, Cody, Nick; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and sister, Nancy (Gary).

He was preceded in death by his parents, sons-in-law, Tim Swann and Kerry Dixon; and granddaughter, Lisa Riedesel.
