Grace Coonts, 96, of Buffalo, IA., passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society, Davenport. Graveside services for Ms. Coonts will be 10 am, Monday at Rosehill Cemetery, Buffalo, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Support Foundation, 7755-3rd Street N., Suite 200, Oakdale, MN. 55128-5442.   Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Grace was born on April 1, 1928, in Drury, Missouri, a daughter of Harmon and Delpha (Smith) Hurst. She was one of seven children. Grace married Phillip Coonts on July 23, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas. They later divorced.

Ms. Coonts retired from the Davenport Community School District after 38 years as a teacher's aide.

She enjoyed being around her family and friends, word search puzzles, and playing slot machines. Most of all she enjoyed being with her youngest brother, John Hurst. He was always by her side helping her with anything that she needed.

The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Society staff for their care of Grace. And a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice staff for their exceptional care and support.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Jeff and Ronda Coonts, Buffalo; grandchildren, Todd (Michelle) Adams, Buffalo, Tara (Doug) Anderson, Buffalo, Justin (Rachel) Coonts, Blue Grass, and Kassie Coonts, Blue Grass; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a brother John (Jean) Hurst, Davenport.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter and son in law, Brenda and Terry Adams; brothers, Raymond, Lester, Ray, Bill Hurst; and a sister, Veta Coonts. Online condolences to wheelanpressly.com
