Grace Lampkin Jackson, 84, of Rock Island, passed away Friday September 19, 2014 at her home.
Services will be 11:00am Friday September 26, 2014 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10:00am to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Grace was born on December 24, 1929 in Louisville, MS, the daughter of Squire Sr. and Alma Lynch Lampkin. She married AZ Jackson in 1953 in Louisville, Mississippi. He preceded her in death.
She was a nurses aid in the early 70's, later working as a janitor at Walkers Royal Janitorial Services for over 20 years, also cleaning offices on the Rock Island Arsenal and lastly managed Good Things Now Store, Rock Island.
Grace Jackson confessed her life to Christ at a early age at Temple Baptist Church and later joined the Jehovah's Witnesses Congregational Kingdom Hall, Rock Island on July 6, 1996.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, doing hair and spending quality time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew Jackson, Davenport, Marvin L.(Gwendolyn) Jackson, Houston, TX, Arthur B.(Mary L.) Jackson, Rock Island, Keith Jackson, Davenport; daughter, Karen Jackson, Rock Island; brothers, O.T. Lampkin, Memphis, TN, Cleo (Gloria) Lampkin, Broadview, IL; sisters, Juanita Hughes and Charlene Allen, both of Silvis; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Betty Walker; brothers, Walter Lampkin, Squire Lampkin Jr., Willie Lampkin, Paul Lampkin and O.D. Lampkin; 2 grandsons; Marvin Jackson III and Artaveus Jackson.
