Gregg Martin, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Charter Senior Living of Madison in Madison, Wisconsin.
Gregg was born on December 31, 1954, in Moline, Illinois. He lived most of his life with his parents, Henry D. Martin and Irene M. Martin, in their home in Rock Island, Illinois. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1974. Gregg worked as a laborer at the Rock Island Arsenal for several years. When his parents passed away, he moved to Madison in 2008 and lived at the assisted living facility Charter Senior Living, where he was an active part of the community.
Gregg enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He liked fishing on vacation trips with his parents in northern Wisconsin. He was a season ticket holder for many years for the Rock Island Rocks boys high school basketball team. He raised tropical fish, belonged to the Blackhawk Aquarium Society, and won several trophies at their annual shows. He especially enjoyed flower gardening and photography. In Madison, he was a regular on Charter’s outings and activities and enjoyed trips to Olbrich Gardens, the Mad-City Ski Team ski shows, Art Fair on the Square, and other events with his brother.
Gregg is survived by his brother, Doug (Sue) Martin of Madison; nephew, Bill (Sharon Fritz) Martin of Madison; niece, Cathy (Mike Lucas) Martin of Redondo Beach, California; and nephew, John (Kayla) Martin of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews, Ariya, Adrian, Evelyn, and Siena Martin and Adam and Calvin Lucas, as well as numerous cousins (whom he often saw at Noppe family reunions).
The family sincerely thanks Charter Senior Living and their predecessors for their care over the last 17 years.
There will be a visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., both at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory at 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois.
