IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Heidi A.
(Nadasky) Schultz
March 30, 1965 – January 15, 2025
Heidi Ann Schultz (Nadasky), 59, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025 from Leptomeningeal Disease, a complication of breast cancer that she had been fighting since 2014. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, wife and friend. Heidi was a force of nature – a fierce protector and untiring caregiver for her family, friends and anyone in need.
Heidi was born in Tarrytown, NY on March 30, 1965 and grew up in Warwick, NY graduating from Warwick Valley High School in 1983. She received many sports honors in cross country running and ski racing. She was awarded a full 4- year ROTC Scholarship and attended James Madison University. Heidi served in the Army National Guard in both Maryland and Iowa. She obtained the rank of Captain. She worked in Washington, DC for the IRS recruiting attorneys for the international tax section. In 1992 Heidi met the love of her life, Herb Schultz, while he was visiting his sister in Washington DC. They married later that year and moved to Milan, IL. Together they raised two exceptional sons, Emmett (1996) and Max (1998).
After moving to Illinois, Heidi joined Management Resource Group (MRG) where she was Partner in charge of the outplacement division and career transition counseling. She helped countless people obtain new employment after being laid off. During her 20 years with MRG she was recognized with many awards, including the prestigious Athena award.
In 2016 she returned to government services with the Army Contracting Command at the Rock Island Arsenal, serving as a Contract Specialist for DOD. She loved her Arsenal "Work Family". She was respected by her colleagues at the DOD for her knowledge, straightforward, no-nonsense approach to problem solving, sense of humor, empathy and compassion.
She was a President of the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Quad Cities. She served on the Rockridge School Board for over 12 years, and was President of the Rockridge Schools Foundation. She taught confirmation and Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.
She loved to watch her sons perform music whether it was show choir, band, or choir. She was a "Rockridge Friday Night Lights Football Mom". Later, she was a rabid Utah Utes football fan, attending many games in Salt Lake City and across the country while her son Max was the Drum Major for the Utah Utes. Heidi loved entertaining friends whether it was at dinner or on their boat. Heidi is survived by her loving husband, Herb Schultz, their sons, Emmett (Katie Kvan) of Salt Lake City, and Max (Ryan Gagon), of Salt Lake City; her sister, Mia Nadasky and her parents, Rudolph and Mildred Nadasky; sisters-in-law Diane (Stuart) Schultz and Susan Dechert; niece Amanda Dechert Guenther (Andrew) and nephew Michael (Caroline) Dechert.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. A memorial service will be at 10 am Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, IL.
The family would especially like to thank Heidi's Cancer Care team from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Dr Leon-Ferre, and Nurses Meg and Monica for the many years of care and good health they provided her along this journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Rockridge Schools Foundation.
