Obituary

Helen "Aimee" A. Shaw, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in Rock Island on May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Aimee, born on February 9, 1949, in Moline, Illinois, was the daughter of Gerald and Dorothy (Hummel) Sutton. Growing up, she attended Rock Island High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, David Shaw. They were later married on May 3, 1969 and went on to raise four kids together.

Throughout her career in education, Aimee made a meaningful impact on countless lives. Beginning her journey with the Blackhawk Area Special Education District, she later devoted her talents as a teacher's aide at Arrowhead Ranch within the Moline School District. Her dedication to nurturing young minds showcased her boundless compassion and commitment to fostering growth and potential in every child she encountered.

Aimee's enjoyment for life shone through in her love for traveling, a passion she shared with friends and family, as well as her fondness for watching comedies that brought joy and laughter into her life. She cherished her moments spent swimming and sharing laughter over card games with her local pinochle group, and she always eagerly awaited spending precious time with her classmates from the Class of '67.

Family was at the heart of Aimee's world, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. A devoted grandmother, she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines, ready with a trunk full of snacks and supplies to support their every endeavor.

Aimee is survived by her husband, David Shaw; her children, Scott (Kristin) Shaw, Hilary Shaw (Bill Brackett), and Corey (Jolene) Shaw; son-in-law, Ted Timbrook; her grandchildren: Connor, Cassie, Sam, Sabrina, Melyni, Carter, Marcus, Logan, Kinley, Devon, William, Andrew, and Camille; her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Emersyn, Mila, and Myles; and her brothers, Gerry (Joan) and Wayne Sutton.

Aimee is now reunited in spirit with her parents, her daughter, Laura Timbrook, and her brother, William Sutton.

In accordance with Aimee's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and all services will be private. Memorials in honor of Aimee may be made to Active Day of Moline. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family.
