Helen Anderson, 93, of Rock Island, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at home.Visitation is from 4pm to 7pm Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 am Saturday at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 2312-18th Ave., Rock Island. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial. Memorials may be made to the church.
Helen Heber was born April 4th, 1921 on Big Island, the daughter of Otto and Julia Seefeldt Heber.
She graduated from RIHS in 1938 and attended Rock Island Business College. Helen was a bookkeeper/office manager at Davenport Packing Co., Milan for 29 years. She then worked at Henry Engineering Co., Moline.
She married Sidney Berg, they divorced. She later married Axel Anderson in 1958, they were married 25 years. He preceded her in death.
Helen was a former member of the VASA Lodge and First Presbyterian Church, Milan, where she was a very active member serving as a Deacon, on the Session and teaching Sunday School. Currently she was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian, where she also served on Session and many committees.
She was an avid reader especially of Biblical material. In earlier years, she enjoyed doing crafts and playing cards. In later years, she enjoyed her yard and watching the birds. She took great pride in her home. She was especially fond of children and known to many as "Aunt" Helen.
She is survived by her grandson, Rick Berg (Becky) and great-grandaughter, Brook Berg, all of Aurora, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Susan Berg, Naperville, Ill.; sister in-law, Helen Heber, Rock Island; nieces, Julie Heber, Rock Island and Denise Heber, Davenport; nephews, Jack Heber, Brent Heber (Jenna), Devin Heber (Deb), and Shannon Lemmons (Rachael); great-nephew, Brad Heber, Wildwood, Mo.; great-niece, Charly Heber-Spates; great-great niece, Natalie Heber Emerson; and special care giver, Precious Mueller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Axel Anderson; son, Gary Berg; and brothers, Glen and Gene Heber.
