Helen A. Yakovich, 90, of Rock Island, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 pm. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Meal Site, Rock Island
Helen Radosevich was born Aug. 11, 1926 in Numa, Iowa, a daughter of Jack and Vera Starcevich Radosevich. She married George M. Yakovich on Aug. 10, 1946 in Centerville, Iowa. He died on Jan. 7, 2008.
In early years, Helen worked at the McKee Button Factory and Centerville Telephone Co. , but her real love was being a homemaker and caring for her family.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, and formerly St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island and the Croation Crest Club, Moline. She enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne Badley and Brian Morris, Davenport, Barbara Hills-Ellis and Bert Ellis, Andalusia, Teresa and Gary Kolls, Andalusia and Pamela Yakovich, Rock Island; sons and daughters-in-law, Martin "Butch" and Debbie Yakovich, Andalusia and Richard and Pam Yakovich, Rock Island; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers; and a sister.
The family extends special thanks to UnityPoint Hospice and to Helen's caregivers, Priscilla, Tonya, Shani, Laurie and Gracie for the wonderful care given to Helen during her illness.
