Helen M. Sommers, 93, of Sherrard, passed away Tuesday April 28, 2015 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.
Services will be 1:00pm Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to the Sherrard Fire Department.
Helen was born on May 19, 1921 in Rock Island the daughter of Edmond L. and Augusta "Gustie" (VandeGejuchte) Taets. She married Keith "Bud" Sommers on April 19, 1941 in Rock Island. He preceded her on January 3, 1987. They had farmed several years in rural Sherrard.
Helen enjoyed playing cards, embroidering flower sack dishtowels, looked forward to going out to eat at local restaurants whenever she could and spending time with family.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lou Stoneking and Susanne(Tony) Pasdach, both of Sherrard; grandsons, Scott(Deb) Stuart, Centerville, OH, Jeff(Lauri) Stoneking, Bettendorf, IA, Brian(Judy) Pasdach, Petaluma, CA; granddaughters, Lori(Tim) Smith, Springboro, OH, Tracy(Roger) Whitcomb, Orion, IL and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Taets.
