Henry McClendon, 80, of Silvis, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at Aspen Rehabilitation and Health Care, Silvis.  Private plans were laid out with his daughter prior to his homegoing.  Cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.  Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Henry was born on June 16, 1935 in Kemper County, MS. , a son of Richard and Minnie L. Gales McClendon.  He married Aretha Craig and three children were blessed to their union.  He later married Annie Harrington.  Henry worked as a auto detailer at Kar-Mart in Moline and Milan until his retirement.  He greatly enjoyed spending time and cooking with his family.  He also enjoyed watching old western movies.

Henry confessed his belief in Christ at an early age.  He was a past member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Salem Baptist Church,  both in Mississippi and he was also a past member of Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Henry L. McClendon, Preston, MS, Alline (Alfred) Scott, Davenport, and Barbara McClendon, Prince George, VA.; grandchildren, Edmund Lee, Myisha (Derrick) Baines, Alfred Scott, Tyron Scott, Starsunta Scott; great grandchildren, Edmund Lee, Jr., Derrick Baines, Jr., Derion Baines, Jecoiye Scott and  Jariah Anderson; sisters; Alline McClendon - Hahn, Jackson, MS and Katie B. Stewart

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Carlene (Gales) Fortenberry, Ernest McClendon, Travis McClendon, Annie Mae Gatheright and Lloyd McClendon; two siblings in infancy; granddaughter, Alexandria Scott and a great granddaughter, Maya Baines
