Howard Davenport, 88 , of Milan, passed away Saturday November 21, 2015 at his home.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be at Edgington Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Howard was born September 1, 1927 in Petal, Mississippi, a son of William and Nancy Davenport.
He was previously married to Juanita Crump. He later married Diane Park Vols on November 11, 1977 in Moline, IL.
Prior to his retirement, Howard was a Security Guard at the former Lutheran Hospital, United, Trinity and lastly with Illini Hospital. In earlier years, he was an Ordained Baptist Minister, and had been a police officer in Mississippi, Geneseo, Rock Falls and Orion.
He and Diane enjoyed raising and showing horses. He also enjoyed golfing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane, of Milan; daughters, Sandra K. Wickham, Rock Falls, IL, and Pamela J. (Sanford) Wood, Eunice, LA; step-children, Kathy Taylor, Silvis, Raymond Vols, Silvis, Julie (Kevin) Sneed, Moline, Janet Roseman, Walcott, IA, Gregory Vols, East Moline, and Gary Vols, Moline; grandchildren, Shawn Wade, Ron Wade Jr., Tamara Carr, Mike (Cathy) Davenport, Michelle Mooney, and Darryl Wood; step grandchildren, Mandy Lindsey, Eric Sneed, Heather Sneed, Samantha Sneed, Michael Roseman, Danielle Merrill, Ashely Vols, Allison Vols, Cody Vols, Courtney Vols, and Keegan Behrens; great grandchildren, Shawn A. (Jen), Sheldon, Skyler, Sierra, Savannah, Josh (Athea), Justin (Chelsea), Jesse (Ivanka), Samantha, Tristan, Raelynn, Michael, Shannon, T.J., Jared, and Nicolas; step great grandchildren, Carolyn, MeKaiya, Connor, Madison, Gerron, Geoffrey, and two on the way; great-great grandchildren, Sydney, Tanner, Chance, Julian, Emmitt, Camden, Elijah, and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Gary Burtlow; sons-in-law, Ronald Wade and Larry Wickham; step grandson, Justin Bales; great granddaughter, Nicole Wade; and sisters, Edith Creel, Ethel Martin and Edna Earl Wallace.
