Imogene Massey, 92, of Illinois City, IL, joined her husband, Glenn, in Heaven on July 25, 2016.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds, IL. Burial will be at Illinois City Cemetery, Illinois City. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice and Illinois City Fire Department.
Imogene was born on October 14, 1923 in Jesup, Arkansas.
Glenn and Imogene were joined in marriage on March 20, 1943.
Imogene received her education in Arkansas and moved to Illinois in 1955.
Imogene began cooking at age 7 for the farmhands on her grandparents farm and continued cooking excellent meals for the Illinois City Elementary School students and staff for many years. After retiring, Imogene continued cooking for her large extended family. No one left Imogene's home hungry. Imogene was especially known for her white gravy and biscuits and chocolate chip cookies. Imogene enjoyed attending sporting events and activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed following Rockridge Sporting Events and St. Louis Cardinals.
Imogene was of the Methodist Faith.
Imogene is survived by four sons; Don (Joanne), Ohio; Mike ,Iowa; Jack (Rhonda), Illinois; Dub (Cindy), Iowa; eleven grandchildren; Jami (Marty) Kistler, Jacqueline (Steve) Kleis, Aaron (Susan) Massey, Amber (Jay) Bizarri, Brian Massey, Adam (Trisha) Massey, Melissa Varnell, Nicole (Brandon) Lafever, Jonathan Massey, Josh (Daniele) Massey and Kayla (Lance) Bull; 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Imogene is also survived by one sister and brother in law, Barb and Lee Thrasher and one sister in law Mollie Guthrie, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Lucille DeKeyrel.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, daughter, Glenda, daughter-in-law, Gerry Dee, grandson, Lincoln Massey, parents, siblings, Kenneth, Juanita, Billy, Hoover, Jim, Jonnie Sue, and Lucy.
