Ira L. Sales, 95, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Generations Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan. A visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Milan American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Milan American Legion or Praise Fellowship Church in Bettendorf. Ira was born on January 9, 1930, in Centerville, Iowa, to Paul and Pearl (Matherly) Sales. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Ira married Mary McDaniel in 1953, and they shared 42 years of marriage, raising ten children together. He later married Helen (Johnson) Anderson on June 29, 1997, in Bettendorf, Iowa. Mr. Sales was employed by Gencom Trucking Company until his retirement in 1994. A lifelong trucker, he loved being on the road and exploring the country. Ira was an active member of Praise Fellowship Church in Bettendorf. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, known for his enjoyment of playing cards, fishing, and board games. Ira had a special talent for humor, often sharing practical jokes with his family, which were always accompanied by his signature sheepish grin and laughter. He truly cherished life and his family. He is survived by his children: Diana Cruchelow, Tom (Kathy) Sales, Wayne Sales, Paul (Kerri) Sales, Barbara (Ron) Dean, Dale Sales, Jeannie (Lenn) Bailey, Bobby Sales, and Mary (James) Fischer; his son-in- law, Brad Kristenson; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill Sales, Larry (Donna) Sales, and Jimmy Sales. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Mary and Helen; his daughter, Marilyn Kristenson; his parents; son-in-law, Jim Cruchelow; grandson, Timmy (Stephanie) Cruchelow; and siblings, Charles Sales, Pauline Wignell, Claude Sales, Donald Sales, and Ronnie Sales.
