Irene G. Klauer, 82, of Rock Island, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A private family service will be held. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.
Irene was born July 14, 1933 in Rock Island, the daughter of Ernest H. and Violet R. Oziah Nelson. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1951. Irene and Richard T. Klauer were united in marriage on June 2, 1951 in Rock Island.
Irene was a homemaker, avid reader and enjoyed classic films. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Surviving are her husband Richard "Dick", of Rock Island; son, R. Theodore Klauer, Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Ruth Christine Klauer, Moline; grandchildren, Sarah Klauer (husband, Marc Shinn-Krantz) and Neal Klauer, all of Minneapolis.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward Nelson, and her daughter-in-law, Mindy S. Klauer.
