Obituary

Irving I. Levin, 93, of Rock Island, formerly of St. Paul, Minn., died on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Hodroff-Epstein Funeral Home, St. Paul, Minn. Burial will be at the Chesed Shel Emes Cemetery, St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Tri City Jewish Center or Friendship Manor. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Irving I. Levin was born on May 25, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Louis and Anna Ginsburg Levin. He married Muriel Kasmir on February 6, 1944 in Bremerton, WA. Irving worked as a jeweler in the Minneapolis - St. Paul area for many years. He worked for Goodman's Jewelers and later for DiPerna Jewelers, retiring in 2002. He and Muriel moved in February of 2006 and quickly adopted Rock Island, Illinois as a second home. They became very involved in the community and greatly cherished the connections they made.

Irving was a member of the American Gemological Society and was very involved in several Men's Organizations in the St. Paul Jewish Community. He was a former member of the Mt. Zion Temple, St. Paul, and most recently a member of the Tri - City Jewish Center, Rock Island.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters-in-law, George and Sheila Levin, Mequon, Wis., David and Vicki Levin, Rock Island, and Richard and Diana Levin, Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren (and spouses), Lorrie (Lee) Blumberg, Rock Island, Michael Levin, Normal, Ill., Brian (Lauren) Levin, Phoenix, Ariz., Matthew (Ronnee) Levin, Scottsdale, Ariz., Leah (Logan) Chase, Euless, TX, and Jason and Andrew Levin, Plano, TX; and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Nathaniel Blumberg, Jacob and Alexander Levin, and Layla, Sylas and Hannah Levin.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Muriel, his parents and sister, Betty.
