Obituary

Irwin S. Rietz, 83, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Sunday January 18, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, IA.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 21st, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial with military honors will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.
Irwin was born October 29, 1931 in Rock Island, a son of Ernest and Elsie Burgess Rietz. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Nancy L. Ritze on November 3, 1951 in Rock Island.
Irwin retired in 1984 as a supervisor from Alcoa, where he had worked for 33 years.
He was a member of the Davenport Radio Control Society and the N.R.A. He enjoyed radio controlled models and caring for his pet dog. He especially enjoyed time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy, of Bettendorf; daughter, Gloria J. Hanne, and her husband, Keith, Bettendorf; son Michael E. Rietz, Davenport; grandchildren (and spouses), Dawn (Kevin) Peel, Kelly (Grace) Hanne, Charles (Kate) Rietz, Ashley (Dan) DePardo; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Logan, Tanner, Dallin, Evelyn, Samantha, Delaney, Maxxwell, Desmond, Alexis and Amelia.
Irwin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edwin and Ronald Rietz.
