Iva June Irwin, 92, of Rock Island, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A service celebrating June's life will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until service time. Burial will take place at a later date in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of First Baptist Church or Children's Therapy Center, both of Moline.
June was born on June 3, 1923 in rural Wausau, WI, a daughter of Harold C. and Ella M. Borchardt Wheeler. She married Anthony Soliz and their marriage was blessed with two sons. She later married Paul D. Irwin on April 6, 1958 and their marriage was blessed with another two sons. Paul passed away on January 18, 2009. June made a living taking care of her husband and growing boys. She greatly enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Firefighters Auxiliary and a dedicated member of First Baptist Church, Moline.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John Soliz, Silvis, Richard (Liz) Soliz, Davenport, IA and Clinton Irwin, Rock Island; 9 grandchildren and several great and great - great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Matthew Irwin; parents; sister, Florence Krueger and brother, Richard Wheeler.
