IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack D.
Cox
December 2, 1953 – November 26, 2022
Jack Duane Cox, age 68, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Jack was born on December 2nd, 1953 to his mother, Marilyn Reinier and father, Marvin Cox in Farmington, Iowa. He married his loving wife, Tammy Cox, and they started a beautiful life together in 1993, spending 29 years happily married.
Jack was a revered father and grandfather, avid woodworker, chef, lover of all dogs, and unwavering advocate of everyone he loved. During his dedicated tenure at Alcoa, he defended employee interests as a Union Representative, constantly upholding worker solidarity and rights. He served our country in the U.S. Army National Guard, and continued serving long after as both a volunteer paramedic with the Buffalo Volunteer Ambulance Service in Buffalo, Iowa and a teacher of future paramedics in the state of Iowa. He instilled upon his children a love of the arts, democracy, and the importance of life-long learning. His free time was spent on the beaches of Florida, seeking seashells, seafood, and sunrises. Surrounding himself with his family is where Jack always felt most loved, and he especially enjoyed creating memories with his grandchildren, who adored him with all of their hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Cox of Rock Island, IL, sisters Theresa (Jack) Bunn of CO and Diana Benfield of IL, daughter Megan Cox of NY, son Jordan (Susan) Cox of NV, daughter Tara (Tyler) Peterman of IN, daughter Katie (Elliott) French of IA, four doting grandchildren, and a bevy of grand-dogs. We will all miss him and honor him in our memory every day.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Quad-City Habitat for Humanity.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2-4 PM, Saturday December 3, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Island.
Jack's family has requested that those attending his celebration of life gathering to please wear your favorite Hawaiian or tropical shirt to honor of Jack's memory.
