Jack D. Stark, 87, of Rock Island, formerly of Milan, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016 at the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services are 11 am Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Visitation is 9 am until service time Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Friendship Manor Benevolent Fund.

Jack David Stark was born Aug. 23, 1929 in Jonesboro, Ark., a son of Troy and Edith Qualls Stark.  He moved to Rock Island to marry the love of his life, Alyne Jones on July 16, 1950 in Rock Island.  She died Aug. 5, 2013.

Jack worked at the International Harvester Corp. Farmall Works, Rock Island for over 35 years, retiring when the plant closed.  He worked many other jobs part-time to help support his growing family.  He was a courier for First National Bank of Rock Island until it was time to care for his wife.

Jack was a member and active board member of First Church of the Nazarene in Rock Island for many years.  He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, cooking, playing the harmonica and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Dave and Angie Stark, Rock Island, Kathy and Tim Alderson, Tampa, Fla.,  Terry and Kathey Stark, Momence, Ill., and Debra Fowler, Dixfield, Maine; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Dick Souza, of Colorado; sister-in-law, Katherine Stark, Moline; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise and Dick Diamond, Rockford, Ill.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyne; his parents; brothers, Bill and Max Stark; and grandson, Donald Fowler III.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Friendship Manor, Silver Cross Nursing Center and Hospice Compassus for the loving care given to Jack during his last years.
