Obituary

Jack K. Swale, 91, of Taylor Ridge, IL, passed away Sunday April 19, 2015 at his home.
A Requiem Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Anglican Church, Rock Island. Burial with military honors, presented by Moline American Legion Post 246, will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The National Ataxia Foundation or to Trinity Anglican Church, Rock Island.
Jack was born April 17, 1924 in Davenport, IA, the fourth son of William and Hazel Hess Swale. He graduated from Buffalo High School, Buffalo, IA. He married Betty J. Nixon on February 24, 1951 in Rock Island.
Jack was employed at Walsh Construction Co., when they built ALCOA. He then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 40 years. He retired in March of 1985 from the Quality Assurance Dept. at the Arsenal.
Mr. Swale was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Rock Island, where he served on the Vestry and as Junior Warden twice. He also was a longtime usher and member of Triangle Club. Jack was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Betty; children (and spouses), Teresa (Jerry) Moore, Andalusia, IL, Gary Swale, Petaluma, CA, and Robert (Linda) Swale, Mokena, IL; cherished grandchildren, Annalise, Virginia, Claire, Jack, David, Dan and Karin; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Leroy Swale.
