Jack E. Viviani, 79, of Moline, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Services for Mr. Viviani will be 11 am, Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Rotary International, The Mississippi Valley Blood Center or to a charity of your choice.
Jack Edward Viviani was born October 28, 1937 to Jack James and Marjorie Crow Viviani. He attended school at Lincoln Elementary, St. Mary's Catholic and Alleman Senior High—Class of '55, all in Rock Island, Illinois. Jack married Sandra Polzin in April of 1954. Later he married Edith Beck in December of 1964. She preceded him in death on October 16, 2012.
Jack began his working career setting pins at The Bowladrom Bowling Alley in Rock Island, then became a professional chef, working at the Showboat Inn, The Office and The Gay Ninety's, all in Rock Island. He also worked at the Towers in Moline, The Tiptopper and Davenport Club, in Davenport, and managed Crow Valley Golf Club in Bettendorf. He owned and operated Viviani's Delicatessen and Catering Service in Rock Island and retired from food service after a successful career as owner and proprietor of Bucks Barn and Lynnwood Links in Thomson, IL—where he was known for delicious food, prize-winning miniature horses, an antique car collection and a great game of golf.
Jack was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island and Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Gold Canyon, AZ, where he resided during the winter. He was actively involved for many years in Rotary International, where he became a Paul Harris Fellow, the Iowa Club Manager's Association, Carroll County Farm Bureau, Tri-State Tourism Council, Blackhawk Waterways, and several Chambers of Commerce. He loved to go car shopping and could be found almost daily perusing the aisles of the grocery store. In his younger days he loved ice skating, boating and water skiing.
He is survived by his children, Elaine (David) Coomes and Elma "Mooch" (Dennis) Gay, both from Andover IL, Jack A. Viviani (Eric Martin), Moline, IL, Ellen (Barton) Smith and Jay (Luann Sims) Viviani, both of Morrison, IL, Jerald (Donna) Viviani, Charleston, IL, and sisters, Mary Lou Udy, Mildred McNabb, and Susie (Dwight) Wagner, all of Rock Island, Joann (Jack) Dunlap, Moline, and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith and his sisters, Elizabeth Sansale and Virginia Fuller.
